This large garage in Thornton Steward has large old wooden doors that were jammed with seized hinges, paint peeling off and some rot at the bottom and in part of the frame. I secured the frame, replaced all four hinges, stripped the paint, repaired the rotten sections of the frame and doors and added a threshold bar at the bottom of each door. A new hasp was added and the internal bolts reset so that the doors opened properly and shut flush. Three coats of self priming multi-surface paint finished the job, making them smart and fully functional again.

Shiny, flush fitting and functional again

The doors in the process of being stripped of the old paint

Work in progress. Re-hung with new hinges and the repairs done at the bottom, waiting for the threshold bar. Gaps in the mortar around the wooden frame re-pointed.

Finished with three coats of paint, new fitting and a straight edge to the door bottoms
